Fifth Grade
Fifth grade at Agape Life Christian Academy builds upon foundational skills while challenging students to think more critically, work more independently, and apply their learning with confidence. This year marks an important transition as students move from learning basic concepts to strengthening understanding, accuracy, and responsibility across subject areas.
Rooted in biblical truth and guided by agape love, fifth grade emphasizes academic growth, character development, and accountability. Students are encouraged to take ownership of their work, follow classroom expectations, and apply Christ-centered values in both learning and relationships.
Using the Abeka curriculum, students receive structured, incremental instruction across core subjects. In language arts, students expand reading comprehension through classic literature and informational texts, strengthen vocabulary, and develop writing skills, including grammar, sentence structure, paragraph formation, and composition. Emphasis is placed on clear communication, listening skills, and written expression.
In mathematics, students master multi-digit operations, fractions, decimals, and problem-solving strategies while developing logical thinking and accuracy. Lessons are systematic and cumulative, reinforcing mastery and confidence.
Through science, students explore God’s creation by studying life science and earth science concepts, strengthening observation, reasoning, and critical thinking skills. History and geography instruction deepens understanding of world and U.S. history while emphasizing God’s sovereignty throughout time.
Throughout the year, fifth graders continue developing organization, time management, and study habits, preparing them for increased academic expectations while remaining supported in a structured, encouraging environment.
Sixth Grade
Sixth grade at Agape Life Christian Academy serves as a bridge between upper elementary and middle school, offering increased academic rigor while reinforcing responsibility, discipline, and independent learning. Students are challenged to think analytically, communicate effectively, and manage their work with growing maturity.
Guided by biblical principles and Christ-centered instruction, sixth grade places strong emphasis on character, leadership, and accountability. Students are encouraged to apply faith to daily decision-making, academic effort, and interactions with others.
Through the Abeka curriculum, sixth-grade students engage in deeper, more advanced academic study. In language arts, students strengthen reading comprehension, analyze literature, expand vocabulary, refine grammar and sentence structure, and develop more detailed written compositions. Writing expectations increase as students learn to organize ideas clearly and express thoughts effectively.
In mathematics, students build on prior skills as they advance to more complex operations involving fractions, decimals, ratios, problem-solving, and logical reasoning. Accuracy, perseverance, and independent work habits are emphasized.
Science instruction explores God’s orderly creation through physical science and life science concepts, encouraging inquiry, observation, and application of knowledge. History and geography lessons provide a deeper understanding of world events, cultures, and historical influence, helping students think critically about the past and its relevance today.
Sixth grade also places strong focus on study skills, organization, responsibility, and classroom leadership, equipping students with the habits needed for success in middle school and beyond.

EdChoice Information & Explanation
Ohio recently passed legislation expanding the EdChoice program. However, before the vote, the bill was amended to exclude traditional homeschooled students. Agape Life Christian Academy is a homeschool co-op, and as such, because the State of Ohio does not classify it as a chartered school, it is not eligible for EdChoice.
